Plain answers to fair questions

The basics

What is Lintsure?

A free, open-source compliance checker for code written with AI. It checks your repo against rules like the EU AI Act, GDPR, SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and shows the file, the line, the rules broken and a fix.

Who is it for?

Founders and engineers shipping software with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Windsurf who need to know where they stand before a customer, investor or auditor asks.

Will this make me compliant?

No tool can do that alone. Lintsure is a readiness tool, not an audit or legal advice. It shows what your code proves, what it doesn't, and what lives outside code, like policies and training.

Privacy and trust

Does Lintsure upload my code?

Not to us. Lintsure runs locally as a CLI, an MCP server or a step in your own CI, and never uploads your code. If you use it through a coding agent like Claude Code or Cursor, that agent follows its own provider's data rules, as it already does. On the paid platform, only results sync, never source code.

Why not just ask Claude Code?

A general agent can give a different answer each time, and it may say a control is met when it isn't. Lintsure's Checker is a fixed rule engine: same input, same result. Only it can mark a control as Met.

Who wrote the rules?

The rules are mapped by a working quality and compliance auditor, and they're open source so you can read every one.

What does "Outside code" mean?

Some controls can't be proven by code, like staff training or vendor contracts. Lintsure lists them separately instead of pretending code covers them.

Frameworks

Which frameworks are covered?

EU AI Act, GDPR, SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001 are checked today. Many more, like HIPAA, ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF and PCI DSS, are on the roadmap. The frameworks page shows the status of each.

How do I know which ones apply to me?

Use the picker on the frameworks page, or let the Classifier read your repo and suggest a list. You confirm it before anything is checked.

Plans

Is it really free?

Yes. The checker and all six local agents are open source and free forever.

What do I get on the platform?

A team dashboard with login, checks on every pull request, alerts, an evidence log, readiness history, Officer tasks, and optional review by a real auditor.

When does the platform launch?

It's in development. Request a demo and we'll show you where it stands.
